Coach Frank Nieto


Coach Frank Nieto is father of one daughter. He was born in Oxnard, California. He is a retired Lieutenant Colonel with 25 years of service in the United States Army. He continues to serve our country today as a defense industry partner working on future command and control systems. Frank served as an Infantry commander in Iraq as well as a NATO staff officer and trainer. He retired in 2017 after a tenure of four years as the Army Airspace Domain Chief. Frank’s education includes a Master of International Relations, Luis Carli, Rome, Italy, 2010 and Master of International Relations, Saint Mary’s University, San Antonio Texas 2005. He is a graduate of the Italian Command and General Staff College, Rome Italy, and the Joint Air Combat Planners Course, in Lyon France. He recently competed the MIT Artificial Intelligence for business leaders’ course in 2020.

Frank was not able to play sports as a youth due to having to work to help the family. However, he acquired years of experience coaching young men and women as a military commander. Frank has organized and led numerous successful physical fitness programs during his Army career. He has helped numerous soldiers lead healthy, productive, values-based lives.

Frank became interested in youth athletics came by way of his daughter’s desire to play softball in 2022. He coached a Northland Sports Alliance Kansas City team in 2022. He and his daughter decided to joined the Riverdawgs in 2023.
